Mumbai Indians won a thriller against Kings XI
Mumbai Indians won a thrilling match against Kings XI Punjab with one ball to spare in the Indian Premier Cricket League V at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium.
The match was poised for a keen finish as Mumbai Indians needed four runs from four balls and four wickets in hand.
Ambati Rayudu stroked Azhar Mahmood’s fifth delivery of his fourth over to deep cover for four. It turned out to be the winning stroke as Mumbai Indians replied with 171 for 6 in 19.5 overs.
This was in reply to Kings XI Punjab’s total of 168 for 3. Ambati Rayudu was adjudged the Man of the Match.
With this victory, Mumbai Indians have also took their revenge for the six wickets defeat they had suffered at the hands of Kings XI Punjab in their last match.
With Robin Peterson (16 not out, 2x4s, 1×6), Rayudu (34 not out, 2x4s, 1×6, 17 balls) posted 36 runs in 13 deliveries.
Earlier, after Franklin (22) and Sachin Tendulkar (34) had put on 52 runs for the opening wicket stand, Rohit Sharma guided Mumbai Indians on the victory path with a solid 30-ball 50 (3x4s, 3x6s).
Parvinder Pawana (3 for 39) and Azhar Mahmood of Pakistan (2 for 23) were the most successful bowlers for Punjab who have slipped to the eighth position with six points from eight matches.
Mumbai Indians are occupying sixth position with eight points to their credit.
