IPL Money Trail

An awesome illustration of money trail in IPL franchisees that appeared in Forbes magazine recently.

It clearly depicts rank of the team in final standings of last 2 IPLs and number of sponsors they still have in the on-going 5th edition of IPL.

Chennai has the most sponsors and it has finished in the top four in all the IPL editions. It won the trophy in 2010 and 2011. Mumbai, Punjab and KKR are tied for the second-place with 16 sponsors each; but Mumbai beats Punjab and Kolkata hollow when it comes to on-field performances.

Delhi Daredevils seems to deceive too often and its 12 sponsors must be getting impatient, having hardly received any bang for their buck.

Pune has just eight sponsors and it looks unlikely that it will get any more next year. They have not done good in IPL 5 so far.
