The country’s largest realty firm DLF has decided to end its five-year long association with cricket tournament Indian Premier League as the title sponsor and did not renew its contract that was due.

DLF name had almost become synonymous with IPL in last 5 years.  DLF paid hefty unknown money to be the title sponsor for the premier league that started in 2007 without knowing much of its fate.

DLF IPL IPL is no longer DLF IPL, DLF calls off

After being its title sponsor for 5 years, DLF decided to quit as they thought IPL has done enough promotion for the DLF brand in last 5 years.

The company said it will promote other sports and is currently exploring various such platforms for association. Whatever, it was a wise decision to pull off a league which is going down years after years. Too much of everything is dangerous, so as with 20-20 cricket.

Now IPL committee will have to look for another title sponsor for the charming league for their 2013 version and onwards.

IPL 5 was not that of a success as its earlier editions were, so let’s see if change in the title sponsor changes the fate of the league or not.
