First 2 highest partnership records on the same day

You may call it a mere co-incidence but the truth is when Gayle and Kohli came out to bat on 17th May 2012, they were aware that exactly a year back on 17th May 2011, Gilchrist and Marsh playing for Kings XI against Royal Challengers batted like GODs and put up the highest partnership record of 206 runs for any wicket in IPL. It was also the first 200+ partnership.

Exactly one year later, Gayle and Kohli put up unbeaten 204 for the 2nd wicket partnership and thus just missing the highest by couple of runs.

Royal Challengers is involved in both records.
